Smallmouth bass, as well as Largemouths, really start to get active after spawning in late spring. Smallmouth bass up to twenty three inches have been boated. The average smallmouth is four to five pounds and largemouth bass are faily common in the 6 to 8 pound range.
Northern pike are fished in the same waters as the bass, so at anytime you are bass fishing, you may hook into a monster pike or a huge pickerel.
